In São Tomé and Príncipe, Portuguese folk music fused with African rhythms, much like in Brazil (a country which Saotomeans really love), has produced some spectacular music.

Santomean pop music has a lot in common with mainland African music, much more than with music from Portugal. Shared language with the brother nations as they are called – Cabo Verde (Cape Verde), Angola and Mozambique – also means a lot of music tranfer is going on – be it Cabo Love or Kizomba.
